Environmental Assessment Office accepts application from KGHM Ajax

The B.C. Environmental Assessment Office has accepted the application from KGHM Ajax for its proposed mine on the outskirts of Kamloops. 

KGHM spokesperson Yves Lacasse says they will now proceed to a formal review stage by re submitting the application in the new year. Lacasse says they have decided to re submit it’s application after Christmas on January 4th. He says they opted to wait until after Christmas so residents could enjoy their holidays and not have review 1,800 pages of the application until the new year. In addition to that, Lecasse says they have hired a consultant to summarize the report into plain language summaries which will be laid out on their new website which will go live on January 4th. 

During the 180 day review there will be a public comment periods, Ajax open houses and federal and provincial government information sessions.
