Fatal bus vs car accident at Hoffman's Bluff

CHASE, B.C. — Emergency responders were at the scene of a two vehicle accident between a tour bus and a car on Highway 1 near Hoffman's Bluff Friday afternoon.

The BC Ambulance Service confirms the accident happened shortly after 4. RCMP Seargent Mike Pears has confirmed to CFJC News there has been 1 fatality in the accident which involved a tour bus belonging to Wescan Charters.

6 ground and 1 air ambulances responded.

The driver of the bus suffered serious but non life threatening injuries.

Pears says the bus was traveling eastbound with 57 passengers including the driver. He says a westbound car crossed the centre line and collided with the bus. The driver and lone occupant was deceased at the scene.

Interior Health confirms Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops received all 57 patients from the accident. One person is in serious condition, 20 suffered non life threatening injuries and 36 others were uninjured.

This is the third bus accident on Interior highways in one year.
