Boston Bar water system vandalized, leaving unknown damage
BOSTON BAR, B.C. — The Fraser Valley Regional District (FVRD) and Hope RCMP are looking into suspected vandalism to the Boston Bar water system in the midst of the Brunswick Complex wildfires.
The FVRD said the incident left unknown damage to the community’s critical infrastructure in the midst of an already dire situation due to the nearby wildfires.
Boston Bar’s water system is located with an Evacuation Order and, on Thursday (July 23), it was determined that the community’s water may need to be shut off.
FVRD officials said this step was meant to protect the important piece of infrastructure as demand saw a sharp increase at the same time supply had a similarly steep decline.
