Kamloops RCMP report fatality in overnight motor-vehicle incident in Valleyview that led to power outage

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP Staff Sgt. Kelly Butler said a single-vehicle crash reported early on Saturday morning in Valleyview resulted in a fatality.

Butler told CFJC Today the motor-vehicle incident (MVI), which was reported to RCMP at about 2 a.m. on Saturday, caused damage to a pole and led to a power outage.

The MVI took place in the 2300 block of East Trans Canada Highway, with a white sedan travelling eastbound when it left the highway, according to a Kamloops RCMP press release issued on Saturday morning.

The driver was declared deceased at the scene.
