Expensive produce scanner stolen from Kamloops grocery store: RCMP

KAMLOOPS — RCMP hope the public can help them identify a woman who allegedly made off with a pricy produce scanner from a Kamloops grocery store.

In a news release issued Tuesday (Apr. 16), Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says the theft took place about one month ago, on March 14.

During the noon hour that day, an employee of a Summit Drive store reported leaving the scanner inside a banana box in an aisle. When the employee returned to the aisle, the box was gone.

Security footage shows a woman taking the box and leaving the store.

Suspect description:

  • White woman
  • Brown or dirty blonde hair in braided pig tails
  • Bright red or orange shirt

Scanner description:

  • Zebra brand
  • Black device with buttons
  • Handle grip midway down the back

Anyone with information on the woman or the theft is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP at (250) 828-3000 and refer to file number 2024-7515.
