KAMLOOPS — Reese Belton is heading to Tri-City.

The Blazers shipped the 20-year-old forward to the Americans on Wednesday for a fourth-round pick in the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft.

Belton, who was drafted in the fifth round by the team in 2017, played 115 games in Kamloops, picking up 20 goals and 25 assists over three seasons.

The Belton trade cuts the number of 20-year-olds down to four — with Daylan Kuefler, Drew Englot, Ethan Brandwood and Ethan Rowland. Teams are only allowed to carry three 20-year-old players.

Goaltender Dylan Garand, who would be entering his 20-year-old season, has told CFJC Today he will be moving onto the pro ranks with the New York Rangers organization.

2002-born defenseman Marko Stacha, who was injured and missed the playoffs, won’t be back with Kamloops in 2022-23.
