Semi-trailer truck catches fire, closes westbound Highway 1 lanes west of Kamloops

KAMLOOPS — UPDATE- 4:30 AM August 3-  – A semi driver was pulled from his rig and taken to hospital with undetermined injuries following an incident last night in the westbound lanes of the Trans Canada just across from Costco in Dufferin.

Crews were called out just before 6:00 PM last night to reports of a burning vehicle.

Initial reports indicated there were two semis involved, but a later report indicated there may have been only one.

The cab of the semi burst into flames, and there were a number of explosions as the truck burned.

No indication of what caused the incident, and no word on the condition of the driver this morning.

The semi belonged to a company based in Kamloops, Apps Cargo Terminals.

The highway was closed for some time as the fire burned.
