Music News with Nick Jonas and Miley Cyrus
Nick Jonas was injured late Saturday (May 15th) night while filming a new show. Sources tell TMZ that Jonas was taken from set to a nearby hospital by ambulance. However, they did not disclose the nature or severity of the injury. The outlet reports that as of Sunday (May 16th) night, the singer is back home and will appear on Monday’s (May 17th) episode of The Voice.
Miley Cyrus will produce a Pride concert special exclusively for Peacock. The one-hour special, Stand By You, filmed in Nashville, will feture Cyrus performing her hits as well as classic covers. Deadline reports that the exclusive event is part of an overall talent and development agreement between NBCUniversal Television and Streaming and Cyrus’ production company and Tish Cyrus’s production company Hopetown Entertainment. The deal includes a commitment of three specials, of which Stand By You is the first. Cyrus said in a statement, “I have had an incredible long-lasting relationship with NBC for years. Many memorable moments in my career have been shared and supported by NBCU. This feels like a natural progression and I am looking forward to creating content that we love and hope everyone who watches does too. We’re starting this journey together with a Pride special on Peacock to celebrate a month we both want to highlight with this concert event.”
Katy Perry teamed up with The Monsters & Strangerz and Jon Bellion for her latest single, “Electric.”The track, created especially for Pokemon 25: The Album, which will be released this fall by Universal Music Group’s Capitol Records, dropped Friday (May 14th).The clip follows Perry and Pikachu as they take time out to enjoy nature and reflect on how they have evolved over the years.The “Firework” singer reflected on her connection to Pokemon in a press release, saying, “The song’s themes – resilience, igniting your inner light – have guided my life and also parallel Pokémon’s story and characters. Pikachu is the evolved form of Pichu, so in the video, you see the younger version of me with Pichu and myself in the present day with Pikachu. We both evolve, yet retain a sense of playfulness.”
