LUMBY — RCMP are looking for a man who allegedly assaulted another man with pepper spray on Highway 6 in Lumby.

Police say the victim had stopped in the 4600 block of the highway Saturday when he saw a man standing beside a yellow cube van off the side of the road.

He told police the other man sprayed him with bear spray and stole his  pickup truck.

Police say the 35 year old victim was in obvious distress and was treated by BC Ambulance Service.

His silver Dodge pickup truck was later found near Highway 6 and School Road in Lavington.

“It is unfortunate that a simple act of kindness is turned into a violent act for this particular victim who stopped to check on a fellow motorist,” says RCMP Cst. Kelly Brett. “Although this incident may not have been targeted, this is not a common occurrence here in the North Okanagan.”

Brett says the victim of the random act suffered minor injuries.

Anyone with information is asked to contact RCMP.
