Blazers drop to 0-and-6 in loss to the Cougars

KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Blazers gave up two early goals, three more in the first 8:26 of the second, and lost 6-2 to the Prince George Cougars.

At 0-and-6 the Blazers have matched the worst start in franchise history, equalling the mark set two years ago.

Connor Zary with his first Western Hockey League goal and Nic Holowko had the Blazers markers, both in the first period.

Kody McDonald with two, Joel Lakusta, Aaron Boyd, Nikita Popugaev and Josh Maser scored for Prince George.

The Cougars outshot the Blazers 41-19.

Dylan Ferguson started in goal for Kamloops, but was pulled at 8:26 of the second after giving up six goals on 22 shots.

Max Palaga came in and stopped 19 of 19 the rest of the way.

Western Hockey League goaltender of the week Tavin Grant was good on 17 of 19 in the Prince George net.

The Blazers went 1-for-3 on the power play while the Cougars were 1-for-6.
