Blazers add former player Aaron Keller to coaching staff

KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Blazers have solidified their coaching staff for the 2017-18 WHL season.

Don Hay is entering his fourth season as the Blazers Head Coach. Hay has 720 career WHL wins, which is second all-time in WHL history. Ken Hodge has the all-time record at 742 wins.

 

Hay is also second in Blazers franchise history with 255 wins. Ken Hitchcock has the record with 287 career wins.

Mike Needham returns for a fourth season as the Blazers Assistant Coach. Chris Murray is back for a fourth season on a part-time basis as an Assistant Coach. Goaltender Coach Dan De Palma returns for a ninth season with the Blazers.

 

The Blazers have added former player Aaron Keller as a part-time Assistant Coach. Keller played four seasons with the Blazers from 1992-1996 and won two Memorial Cups.

The Kamloops native recorded 249 points in 269 games with the Blazers and is the third highest scoring defenseman in Blazers history behind Greg Hawgood (473) and Darryl Sydor (274).

 

Keller went on to an 18-year professional career in Japan where he won two league championships and represented Japan at eight World Championships.
