Restored deal could equal up to 80 new teaching positions in Kamloops

 KAMLOOPS — Kamloops students and parents can look forward to smaller class sizes and more teachers and resources come September.

The B.C Teachers’ Federation reached a tentative deal with the province over the weekend that restores regulations around class size and composition from a 2002 agreement.

David Komljenovic, President of the Kamloops Thompson Teachers Federation, says while long overdue, the resorted deal is welcome news.

“It’s unfortunate that it took 15 years, there are many students that have gone through the entire system without these supports,” said Komljenovic. “What we’re hoping in September is that it’s a new reality for both students and teachers.”
