Huge Win for Wolfpack Women’s Volleyball Team
KAMLOOPS — It could have been one of the biggest victories in franchise history. The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack women’s volleyball team swept the visiting and previously undefeated University of British Columbia Thunderbirds 3-0 in Canada West action Friday night (Nov 19). The scores were 25-22,25-18,25-6.
The WolfPack led from wire to wire as they handed the Thunderbirds their first loss of the Canada West Season. TRU was led by Iullia Pakhomenko (5th year, outside hitter, Donetsk, Ukraine). She had 11 kills in 23 chances. UBC’s top offensive threat was Victoria Behie (3rd year, setter, Nanaimo, BC) who had six kills in 19 chances.
Both teams continue the series tonight (Saturday) at the Tournament Capital Centre. Start time is 5:00 PM.
The University of British Columbia Thunderbirds men’s volleyball team has had a tough time winning on Friday nights on the road. Their previous two Friday night road encounters were defeats. They ended that streak on this night (Nov 18) at the Warner Rentals Court at the Tournament Capital Centre in Kamloops. They downed the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack 3-1.
