KAMLOOPS — Today was the official grand opening of the new iTel facility in the old Weyerhaeuser sawmill offices, on Mission Flats Road.

The location is somewhat symbolic of new technology supplanting older industry in BC. iTel is a tech company specializing in connecting businesses of any size, within a multitude of different networks.

“We’re a national, coast-to-coast Internet Service Provider for businesses,” Danny Rink, iTel CEO explained. “We have a network of networks, which allows us to provide phone, internet, wide area network services to businesses. We’re also known for creating very innovative solutions that maybe other carriers can’t do.”

Rink says the new building gives the company room to grow. Right now they have 75 employees, but expect to continue to expand, and could accommodate up to 300 in the coming years.

“It’s important that we have a place where we can aggregate our staff, and have room for growth. That’s trickier than you might think, to find a building of this size, with adequate parking, that’s still in town, where we can daw from the university, and all the talent Kamloops has to offer.”
