April 20, 1960 – June 29, 2016
Larry, aged 56 years, lost his hard fought, five-year battle with cancer. On the morning of June 29, 2016, Larry passed away quietly in the tranquil surroundings of the Marjorie Willoughby Hospice at Kamloops with his sister Cheryl at his side and his parents and sister nearby.
Larry was born April 20, 1960, at Kamloops and resided in Westsyde where he attended elementary and high school. He is lovingly remembered by his parents Norm and Pat Zwarich, and his sisters (spouses) Cheryl (Jerry) Head and Jeannette (Mel Gorely) as well as his nephews Adam, Curtis and Zachary. He was predeceased by his sister Laurel. Linda O’Hara will cherish the close brother-sister relationship developed over many years with Larry: firstly, as neighbours, then as school mates and even across a continent. His cheerful, optimistic personality and “wicked” sense of humour will be missed by all who knew him.
Larry was known for his fondness for preparing and eating good food. Appropriately, he worked for many years in the beverage and food services industry in a number of places, including Kamloops, Vancouver, Grand Cayman Island and Fort Lauderdale, FL. More recently, he practised as a massage therapist in Ft. Lauderdale. Most recently, Larry developed an interest in his native heritage; in particular his beadwork became a popular sale item at powwows at Kamloops, Little Shuswap, Neskonlith, Keremeos and Tsuu T’ina Nation near Calgary.
When it became clear to Larry that time was of the essence, he arranged a barbecue so he could celebrate one last time with friends and relatives. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no service. At a future date, Larry’s cremains will be interred in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Vernon, BC.s
Larry was attended by many excellent health practitioners including, to mention only two, his family physician Dr. McLaren and Linda Chrystall. The exceptional care at the Marjorie Willoughby Hospice was much appreciated. All have earned and deserve a most sincere thank you.
For those wishing to honour Larry’s memory, a donation to a favourite charity would be most welcome.
