September 12, 1932 – August 13, 2021

With sadness we announce the peaceful departure of Yvonne Grace Maddocks (nee Shepherd). Beloved wife of the late Keith Maddocks, she is survived by her three children: Jane (Doug) Morris of Ottawa, Reg (Tish) Maddocks of Kelowna & Kathy (Steve) DuMont of Kamloops, eight grandchildren: Robyn Maddocks of Montreal, Jenn James of High Prairie, Vicki Maddocks of Louis Creek, David Maddocks of Chilliwack, Joel Morris and Alison Southern of Ottawa, Marc DuMont and Mieke DuMont of Kamloops, along with 7.5 great-grandchildren, sister-in-laws Shirley and Pat and brother-in-law Courtney, all of Vancouver Island, along with numerous nieces, nephews and their families. She also leaves Norma Chapman, Coquitlam, her dear friend of over sixty years.

Yvonne was a city girl, born and raised in New Westminster. She had an abrupt life change when she married Keith and they began a successful 60-year life of farming together in Cloverdale with Maddocks Farms. Additionally, she was a gifted artist, photographer, seamstress, knitter, calligrapher, cake decorator and cook. Many were blessed with one of her handmade cards. This all came very easy to her. Yvonne could sew anything from barbie doll clothes to bridesmaid dresses. She was never without her knitting, whether it be a baby outfit, complicated sweater or one of her famous dish cloths.

Yvonne generously gave of her time and talents including a long commitment with Girl Guides of Canada and her church. Her deep faith kept her rooted during many difficult times. She always had time for others, was thoughtful and kind; there was always room at the table for one more.

Yvonne’s family, both close and extended, were the light of her life and brought her such joy, right up to her last days.
