September 28,1934 – May 28, 2016
It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Norma on May 28, 2016 at
the Kamloops Hospice peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Norma was born
September 28, 1934 in Calgary, Alberta. Her family moved to Lynn Valley, North
Vancouver where she grew up which included being May Day Queen.
Later she met the love of her life Ernest Wittal and they were married on April 17,
1954. Both their sons Doug and Tom were born in Lynn Valley. In 1960 the family
moved to Mabel Lake, BC and they purchased the Mabel Lake Resort with Ernie’s
sister Elsie and her husband Victor Ring which they operated for a few
years. Norma & Ernie’s 3rd son Jerry was born in Enderby in 1962. The family
eventually moved to Kamloops and settled on Dallas Dr which was their home for
many wonderful years. Norma is predeceased by her husband Ernie and is survived
by her sons Doug (Mona), Tom (Uli) and Jerry (Dorothy) as well as her grandchildren
Wayne (Danielle), Cassie (Andrew) & Brittany (Harley) and great-grandchildren Mia
and Maddox.
Norma loved the outdoors (spending time at Shuswap) and fishing was one of her
favourite activities as well as bowling and playing cards with her friends and
neighbors in Dallas. She was very proud of her grandchildren and recently her
great-grandchildren Mia and Maddox. She will be forever in our hearts and sadly
missed.
A celebration of life to share stories and memories will be held on June 18, 2016 (1
pm to 4 pm) Sandman Centre (Rivers Room upstairs/entrance by Box office), 300
Lorne Street Kamloops, BC.
In-lieu of flowers donations in Norma’s name can be made to the Kamloops Hospice
Association, 72 Whiteshield Crescent, Kamloops BC, V2E 2S9
