October 18, 1938 — May 23, 2023
William Stuart Horne passed away peacefully, with family by his side at Heritage Square in Vernon, BC on May 23 2023. William (Bill) Stuart Horne was born in Chatham Ontario on Oct 18, 1938 to his parents Wilfred and Frieda. Bill had two older sisters, Marie and Sheila.
Bill grew up as part of a farming family. At a young age he was a hard worker who excelled in sports, particularly football. After completing school he took a chance and moved west, ultimately settling in British Columbia. During his life he had many adventures; mining for gold in the Yukon and Northwest territories, running trucks into Mexico, working as a lifeguard, and singing on stage in Vegas. He also performed on stage at various jazz clubs in the Vancouver area. When settling down, his efforts went into working in restaurant management in the Vancouver, Calgary and Whistler areas. During retirement he reignited a love he’d had for golf. He passed that love, along with many of life’s lessons to his sons Devon and Kyle.
Bill loved the sunshine and the outdoors, golf, music, a well cooked meal, and of course his family. He will be lovingly remembered by those that knew him, as a tough man with a soft heart. Bill is survived by his sons Kyle, Devon, and Sean and his sister Sheila.
At his request, there will be no formal service. Donations can be made to BC Children’s hospital in his memory.www.bcchildrens.ca/donate
