March 19, 1950 – February 10, 2023

It is with great heartache and sadness the family of Bill Melanson, 72, announce his passing on Feb. 10, 2023 at the Victoria General Hospital, Victoria, BC.

Bill was born in River Hebert, Nova Scotia, on March 19, 1950, to Wilfred Clair and May Anne (Richard) Melanson. He is survived and will be missed dearly by his loving wife of 53 years Pat, daughter Paula, and his sons Brian and Shawn (Heather). Grandchildren Sam, Tessa, Matt and Maggie as well as great-grandchildren Cart and Remi, brother Reg, Peter and John, all of Nova Scotia, will miss him greatly. Bill was predeceased by his parents and brother Roddy (1980).

As a young man his dream was to join the RCMP and in 1980 his dream came true. His first posting was 100 Mile House, BC and was followed by postings in Hazelton, Salmon Arm, Stewart, Tumbler Ridge, Prince George, Lillooet, Lytton and Kamloops where he retired as Staff Sergeant in 2011 after 32 years of dedicated service.

Bill was a gentle, kind and honourable man and his family was his priority. He was always willing to help others and will be missed dearly by both friends and family. His love of God and his faith will help sustain us through this stressful time.

Cremation has taken place and a graveside service will take place at a later date.
