Born at home in the station house in Vavenby, BC, on February 20,1933, Tessie lived in the area for her younger years, surrounded by family. In 1952, she married Wally Watson, and moved to Kamloops, where they purchased a property and built their home from scratch Tessie’s home was always full of music and laughter and sweet treats. Her prize winning garden was a sanctuary for all of her friends and family to come and munch on fresh fruit from the trees while they visited.
Tessie was always very active. She was always out camping with family and friends, gardening, bowling or singing with the Sweet Adelines chorus.
After her husband passed away in 2005, Her roommate Willie was a wonderful addition to her home. She has enjoyed tending her garden and her home, baking, and visiting with her neighbours. She would always go out of her way to make newcomers welcome in the neighborhood, and they have been wonderful in supporting her to be able to stay in her home for as long as possible.
An informal gathering will be held on Sunday, December 4, 2016 at 2:00pm at Tessie’s home.
A more formal garden service will be planned for spring time when her garden is blooming.
For the spring service, please forward any stories or memories that you would like to share of Tessie, along with your contact information to Tessie’s Grand-daughter, Christine Akeson. ( Christine@akesons.com )
