Vogel, William Henry

We will truly miss Bill, our loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. After many years of fighting illness, he fell asleep in death at the age of 80 years on February 19, 2017 with two of his daughters and his wife by his side. He is survived by his wife, Arlene; children Deborah Wilson, Daniel Vogel, Kathryn (Henry) Hanson, and Cindy (Matthew) Wood; his grandson Chad Hanson; his brother Stan (Bee) Vogel; his sister Ruth (Bob) Rogers; very close friend, Terry (Evelyn) Coventry; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Mary Vogel.
After marrying the love of his life, Arlene, in 1955, they moved to Kamloops in 1956 and there raised their children and enjoyed their life together. Bill was employed primarily in the radiator repair business and got to know many of the business people in the community.
One of his favorite recreation spots was not far away, at Shuswap Lake, where he enjoyed relaxing with friends and family and recalled memories of the time spent there as a child.
He was baptised as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on July 3, 1950 and from that point forward spent countless hours in the door-to-door ministry helping people to learn about the Bible. He also enjoyed the privilege of being an Overseer in the congregation and thus helped and encouraged many of the other members of his congregation. He thoroughly enjoyed the privilege he had for many years of being a marrying agent.
Even into his very final hours, hearing reminders of his Bible-based hope for the future gave him comfort, as he knew he could look forward to being resurrected back to life when the earth is a paradise and “no resident will say: “I am sick”” (Isaiah 33:24).
The family would like to express special thanks to Kamloops Seniors Village for their kind and attentive care for the past 2 years, and much gratitude to his devoted physician Dr. Doug Hamilton who ensured he got the best medical care possible.
Memorial Service to be held on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 2 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1985 Curlew Road, Kamloops, BC, with Michael Pinchin officiating.
