November 25, 1932 – November 1, 2019
In the early morning hours of November 1st, Kay surrendered her life to a battle with cancer, her son Murray and daughter Connice at her side. She was predeceased by her husband Bob, brother Don, her sister Dorothy and other family members and many friends with whom she has now reunited. She is survived by son Murray (Lori) Peissard of Kelowna, granddaughters Bailey & Courtney Peissard; Daughter Connice (Victor) Lagace of Kamloops; grandchildren Amber (Gizzmo) Drinnan of Calgary, Richard Lagace of Prince George, Robert (Marie) Lagace of Kamloops, Chrystal Lagace of Kamloops; great grandchildren Tina & Dino Miconi, Daniel & Kira Wright; great-great grandson Weston; as well cousins, nephews, nieces and friends too numerous to mention. Kay was born in Drumheller Alberta in 1932 to Gordon and Edna Macdonald, and graduated in Cranbrook, B.C. She moved around a bit living in Vancouver, Kamloops and Calgary before finally settling in Maple Ridge. She touched many, many people and developed many friendships throughout her life. She always had a welcome smile, warm heart and listening ear for everyone. Everywhere she went, whether it was a trip to the grocery store, mall or bank, she would stop to chat with people she knew. A long time resident of the Maple Ridge / Pitt Meadows area who’s dedication as a Welcome Wagon Hostess won her much recognition and many awards including Hostess of the year for the community. Before that, she was a cigarette girl, coat check, an elevator operator, telephone operator, seamstress, sales person, demonstrator and nanny to list a few. A gift of writing poetry for her private collection was among her many talents. Her favorite job of all was being a mom and grandma! She loved to travel by land, sea or air, though her favorite trips included Hawaii, the Caribbean, the Mediterranean, Ireland and New York to mention only a few. Special thanks to her family doctor Dr. Gounden, as well as Dr. Kwan, all of the nurses and volunteers at McKenney Creek Hospice in Maple Ridge, Dr. Lynne and the nurses and care aides in the Orchard Grove wing at Overlander Residential Care in Kamloops and her long time friend Sandra Lalonde. It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our mom, grandma, and friend. You will always be in our thoughts and though we feel an emptiness surrounding us, we need to keep in mind that it is only temporary…until we are together again at the golden pond. Every time a butterfly flutters by, we will smile and think of you. You are now a free spirit for eternity…another angel to watch over us. By her request, there will not be a service but instead donations may be made in her honor to the Canadian Cancer Society or Ridge Meadows Hospice Society. Always remembered With all our love. Walk with the angels, Soar like a dove. When I look skyward, Your image I see. A brand new angel, To watch over me. When you come to a Bench in the garden above, Rest easy my love, And save space for me. Till we meet again.
Loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, we will always miss you. Rest in Peace.
