It is with sadness that we have said goodbye to our wonderful Mom. We are comforted that she no longer suffers and has joined our Dad, brother Cam, sisters Marie and Lois. Mom was born in Blaeberry B.C. and raised in Enderby, spent most of her married life in Westwold. It was there that she raised eight children, often doing without so we would have what we needed.
Every fall our Mom would work for local farmers gathering potatoes or asparagus so she could give us an extra special Xmas. Never did we want for love or a full belly. Mom always welcomed our friends to our house, often there was an extra kid, or two or three at the table.
Our Mom suffered from dementia which developed soon after the loss of our sister Lois and was compounded by the loss of our brother Cam. We are thankful that she knew us up to the end and seeing us put a smile on her face. Mom’s happy time during her struggle with dementia was talking about her younger years that included her Mom and Dad, her siblings, and her special nieces and nephews, Pat, Deanna, Vic and Harold. For that we are thankful, it was always a place we could share with her.
Mom spent three years in Chartwell on the North Shore. We are so grateful to the staff for their care and love they gave to Mom. She loved you girls…thank you from the bottom of our hearts. It saddens us that she had to leave your wonderful care. As a part of the family, we were fortunate to have Tracy at Chartwell, she was a great support to our family and to Mom. A special thanks to the nurses on 6 North and Jamie on 3 West at RIH, you were so kind to our Mom. Thank you to Dr. Montgomery, your kindness and support is appreciated.
We will miss Mom and always be grateful for her love and support through the years. Always remembered by her children, Mal (Carole), Sandi (Val), Bob (Bonnie), Debi (Don), Heather (Jim) Kel (Jackie), son-in-law Brad, daughter-in-law and dear friend, Kathy, dear friend Gina, who was like a daughter. Many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
It was our Mom’s wish that there be no public service. Rest in Peace Mom!! We will love you forever and ever!!
