October 6, 1945 – June 26, 2024
Sharon “Chris” Ternier Carney was born on October 6, 1945, in North Battleford, Saskatchewan, to Albert and Clare Ternier. Chris spent her childhood in Saskatchewan, enjoying life on a farm, riding horses, and working at the local Drive-In Theatre. After finishing school, Chris took a business course and started working in a bank. She followed her family out to Salmon Arm, where she secured a job at Salmon Arm City Hall. In 1971, Chris married Dick Carney and moved to Kamloops.
After having two beautiful children, Chris started working at Kamloops City Hall until her retirement. Chris loved to cook, garden, read, watch TV, and take photos. She had a keen interest in crafts, often buying books and supplies to start projects, although she sometimes didn’t get around to beginning them. Chris loved to travel, especially to Australia, and maintained pen pals all over the world, forming lifelong friendships.
Her family was a major part of her life, and she was always ready to help anywhere, anytime.
Chris is survived by her husband, Dick, her mother, Clare, her siblings Terry (Eileen), Kim, Laurie, Michael (Trudi), her son Sean, and her daughters Erynn (Christine) and grandchildren Danielle, Logan, Clara, Wrenna, and Ember. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews.
Chris loved life and had a wicked sense of humor. She was known for consulting her “mind’s eye” to find things lost around the house.
On March 4, Chris had a stroke and was hospitalized until her passing at Trinity Hospice in Overlander Extended Care on June 26, 2024.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of RIH 8th floor and Trinity Care Hospice at the Overlander Care Facility for the wonderful and compassionate care Chris received.
You may offer a message of condolence at Schoening Funeral Service for the Carney family.
