November 18, 1988 – January 1, 2024
With our deepest sadness and heartbreak, we had to say farewell to our beloved Shane on January 1, 2024.
Shane was born in Kamloops, B.C. on November 18, 1988.
As a child, Shane was full of energy and curiosity. He could often be found fishing, hunting, and golfing. From a young age he was great at fixing things mechanically and could take apart most things and repair them.
Shane was someone who loved the outdoors. He loved skiing, camping, fly fishing, and flying his RC’s with his two young boys.
Shane will be remembered as hard working, with a great sense of humour and a loud laugh. Work took Shane from the West Coast to the East Coast and up to the Alaskan border, enjoying the excitement of new adventures along the way.
Shane was an extremely skilled logger and diamond driller and was able to fulfill a goal of owning/operating his own processor. Wherever Shane landed his bright personality found him many friends who were taken with his story telling and gift of making people laugh.
Upon arriving home is when Shane would spend time with his boys geocaching and having many other fun times creating memories.
Shane will be so dearly missed by his two sons Easton and Dawson Merkosky, his parents Doug (Melody) Merkosky, Sharon (Paul) Penzie, his two sisters Kirsty and Brandie (Parker) Merkosky. Nephews Ryan and Charlie and nieces Reese and Kate. Stepsisters Sam and Jamie Penzie and their families.
Gone too soon but loved by us all. We will miss you Shane, but know you are at peace.
Celebration of life will take place at the Kamloops Dunes April 20, 2024, at 11:30 a.m.
