Brenda Marie Schley (Nee Hetu)
Brenda was born in Port Alberni, BC on April 16, 1957. She was called to be with God on April 11, 2018 and passed away peacefully surrounded by her family after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Brenda was a life long resident of Clearwater and was well known for her kindness and generosity. She loved God first and foremost. Brenda took great pride in her marriage, children, step-children, and grandchildren, and always reminded them how much they were loved by her. Brenda enjoyed sharing God’s word with others as well as, gardening, canning, cooking, quilting, and being with her family. Brenda was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Brenda leaves behind Mike, her husband of 20 years; her parents Leo and June Hetu; brother Fred (Cathy); brother Patrick (Valerie); and her sister Maureen (Ron). Her children Steve, Jolene (Glen), Tim (Aisha); her step-children, Wayne, Lisa, Adrian (Bobbi), and Dion (Dustin). Grandchildren: Brendan, Montana, Ayden, Mitch, Maddy, Noah, Wade, Corey, Dylan, Autumn, Connal, Rogue, Lochlan, and five great-grandchildren. Brenda was predeceased by her loving husband Ernest “Nooks” Wurm.
Brenda moved to the North Thompson first settling in Vavenby to raise her young family. She then moved to Clearwater to continue her life there. She raised her family as a single mother for many years. She was a very dedicated mother and was known to be a very hard worker, a quality that helped her through the tough times of raising her children on her own. Brenda continuously educated herself and attained her Red Seal as a chef from TRU, was a certified upholsterer, and attained her Realtor’s license. Brenda was a creative quilter and because of her giving heart there are numerous “quilts by Brenda” throughout the area and with her family members. Besides being one of the most caring and generous people, her greatest pride was being faithful to God and her family. Despite her years of pain and illness, she never wavered in her dedication to the Lord Jesus. Brenda was always kind no matter what the circumstances were and seeing the good in others came easily to her. Brenda encouraged everyone around her to love one another.
Brenda and Mike shared the most loving, caring and devoted marriage. An example to all of us.
Brenda is dearly missed by her husband, family, and friends. She was ready to meet the Lord.
With much gratitude, the family would like to personally thank Dr. Soles and also Dr. Proctor for their care. Dr. Soles, your home visits to ensure Brenda’s comfort were much appreciated. Janice Wyatt your “above and beyond” care and support for Brenda cannot be described with words, you were both a friend and a blessing to Brenda and her family. We would also like to thank and acknowledge Cindy, Laura, Marlene, Shelly, Heather, and Shannon. Brenda wanted you all to know how much your kindness, care, and loving support was appreciated.
A memorial for Brenda will be held on April 22nd, 2018, at 2:00 pm at the Clearwater Christian Church, located at 1010 School Road (The old Star Lake School) in Clearwater BC. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to The Clearwater & District Food Bank.
