March 5, 1958 – January 31, 2017
Our dearest Terry born March 5, 1958 left us after a short battle with cancer on January 31, 2017 with the love of his life Kelly by his side. Terry was born in Edmonton, Alberta; he attended school, played sports and hung with his cousins as a youth. In 1971 the family moved to Kamloops where he played hockey, lacrosse and participated in many other activities. Soon afterward the family again moved and this time to the Shuswap, his parents drove him back and forth to Kamloops so he could continue to play hockey. It was at the Shuswap, being a lake kid riding the Celista animal bus to school in Chase that Terry created some fantastic relationships and memories that will live on forever. He amazed everyone water skiing from Lee Creek to Mara Lake, only having a short break at the narrows and Sicamous to get through the channels to complete this journey.
Terry was very practical and he took this skill set and began his plumbing and sprinkler fitting career alongside his father. For 35 years of Terry’s dogged determination — and incredible work ethic — he was regarded as a man of few words and a master of his trade. Terry rarely sat still as he enjoyed puttering around fixing anything that needed fixing and more recently started antiquing with Kelly acquiring paraphernalia for his man cave. In his early years he enjoyed model cars and boxcars which led to his appetite for NASCAR racing, he was a fanatical viewer of NASCAR races and on two occasions he took them in live at Las Vegas, a true highlight for him.
Terry was predeceased by his nephew Todd Campbell and his favorite schnauzer Cisco. He is survived by his wife Kelly Sayers, son Jacob Sayers (Fatima), step-children Savannah Allan (Rob) & Cody Allan (Kia), grandchildren Zayda and Zane, in-laws Red & Helen Allan, Bruce Allan (Sherry) and Monique Robson (Bill). Terry is also survived by his parents Emerson & Llyn Sayers, sisters Marcia Popoff (Mike), Heather Sayers (Bernie) and brother Allan Sayers (Sandy) as well as many nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday February 18th at 11:00 am followed by a lunch at Gateway City Church, 163 Oriole Road, Kamloops, B.C. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Marjorie Willoughby Hospice Home, make cheques payable to Kamloops Hospice Association, 72 Whiteshield Crescent S, Kamloops, BC V2E2S9 or online at http://www.kamloopshospice.com//donate
