In Memory of

Carl Mills Saunders

1930 – 2018

Carl Saunders passed away after a brave battle with cancer on June 8, 2018 at Kamloops Hospice, Kamloops, BC. He was 87 years of age. Born on November 14, 1930 in Devon, York, New Brunswick, Carl is survived by his wife Freda Saunders (nee McGinnis); sons Ron (Vicki) of Napanee, Ontario, Ken of Bella Coola, BC, Robert (Iris) of Janabacoa, Domincan Republic, and Neal (Yaritza) of Chilliwack, BC; 13 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Carl was predeceased by an infant son; brother Richard; sisters Helen and Ruth; and parents Nellie and George Daye.

Carl had a diverse career including work as a rancher, a logger and work in hospital maintenance. He loved gardening, golfing and hiking – he was an avid outdoorsman. He was also an avid family man and Carl enjoyed life – especially taking wilderness hiking trips with his family, birdwatching, and spending time with his great granddaughters.

A Celebration of Life for Carl Saunders will take place at a later date, with the date to be announced. Contributions in Carl’s name would be appreciated to Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice House, 72 Whiteshield Crescent South, Kamloops, BC, V2E 2S9.
