August 25, 1927 – May 11, 2017
Almo Salviati passed away peacefully on May 11, 2017 in Kamloops at 89 years of age. Almo was born on August 25, 1927 in Ponte di Barbarano, Italy.
In 1955 he immigrated to Canada in search of work and to start a new life. After working several jobs in BC and Alberta, he settled in Kamloops where he would marry Maria and raise a family. They always kept in touch with their distant Italian relatives with many trips, letters, and phone calls.
He worked in construction as a welder on many large projects that helped shape this province. He finished his welding years working for his buddy Mike at Kamco Installations, eventually retiring in 1990.
Almo was an avid gardener and winemaker. He was known for his ability to make a good glass of red wine for the dinner table. Almo had a passion for fishing and always abidded by the “Italian limit.” His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy; he was so proud of their many accomplishments.
Almo is survived by his wife of 56 years, Maria, who was always by his side, his daughter Anna (Randy), his son Robert (Maggie) and his grandchildren Tara, Lisa, Sam, Dylan, Janna and Alysha. The family wishes to send a heartfelt thank you to friends, neighbors, and extended family, particularly Antonia, Leonard, and Florriann.
The Reverend Father Fred Weisbeck will celebrate the Funeral Mass on Tuesday, May 23, 2017
at 10:30 a.m. in the Holy Family Parish, 2797 Sunset Drive, Kamloops.
In lieu of flowers, please consider contributions to the Kamloops Hospice House or the RIH Foundation.
