November 23, 1945 – June 24, 2025
With profound sadness, we share the passing of Ross Minckler Edmondson, who died tragically in the early morning of June 24, 2025, at his cherished cabin on Bonaparte Lake — a place he loved.
Ross was born on November 23, 1945, in Vancouver, British Columbia, but spent his childhood years adventuring through the fields and forests around the Wells Sanctuary and the Farm on South Sumas in Sardis, British Columbia.
From a young age, Ross developed a deep and lasting love for the outdoors — a passion that would shape his life and influence those who shared it with him. Ross and his wife Sharon spent most of their lives together in Kamloops. He worked for Weyerhaeuser as a millwright for many years. He was never happier than when he was fishing, hunting, or exploring the backroads in search of the perfect lake or hidden hunting spot. Whether it was casting a line into still waters or walking the bush searching for huckleberries, Ross had an unmatched sense of peace and belonging in nature. His favorite place was the cabin at Bonaparte Lake, a special place where he made countless memories with family and friends over 40 years.
Ross is lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Sharon Edmondson, and his children Rhonda (Glen) and Sandra. He was a proud and devoted Papa to Kirsten, Brendan (Jill), Erik, and Trigg (& their dad Stephan). He also leaves behind his brother Brad (Michelle), and their children Cody (Allie) and Hailey (Dom). He will also be missed in his Bonaparte Lake community and by all his fishing buddies. Ross was predeceased by his parents, Harold and Louise Edmondson, his brother Greg and his four-legged buddies, Bocephus and Willie.
Ross was someone who always found a way to catch the big ones and sometimes he would tell you what he was catching them on. His presence will be felt with early morning ripples on the lake, the thrill of a big fish on the line, and the quiet beauty of a sunset.
Ross/Dad/Papa, we hope you’ve found your forever fishing hole, and that you’re always at the cabin with your black labs by your side. You will always be on our minds. The family would like to thank the ‘crew’ at Bonaparte for doing their best on a very difficult night.
There will not be a service at this time.
