April 26, 1927 – January 21, 2025 

Sadly, Rosa passed away peacefully at the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice on January 21, 2025, with family at her side. She was born in Mendicino, P. Cosenza, Italy, on April 26, 1927, and was 97 years old. The eldest of four siblings, she was predeceased by her brother Joseph in 2019 and her husband of 51 years, Francesco, in 1999. Although her siblings live a great distance from her, Rosa will be greatly missed by her sister Nella Caputo and family (Toronto), Marie Tiano and family in Pennsylvania and the southern states, as well as sister-in-law Filomena Trozzo and family in Salmo. 

Mourning her passing are her son Vince Trozzo and grandsons Kaleb (Sherry) Trozzo and Kyle (partner Niki) Trozzo; her daughter Mary (Gordon) Campone and grandchildren Michael Campone, Juliana (Conn) Morris, and Daniel (Jamie) Campone. Her family was her pride and joy, and she will be fondly remembered by her great-grandchildren Jordan and Ben Trozzo of Kamloops; Jaxon, Cheyanne, and Walker Campone of Cochrane, Alberta; Lochlynn, Wyatt, and DeLaney Morris of Camrose, Alberta; and Ashtyn and Aubrey Campone of Kamloops. 

Rosa and her husband, Frank, emigrated to Canada in 1957 and settled in Cranbrook, B.C., where they lived for 33 years before moving to Kamloops in 1990 to be closer to their children and grandchildren. She took great comfort and pleasure in living in her own home, tending to her garden and flowers when able, and knowing she had long-standing neighbors she could reach out to if needed. 

Rosa had an incredible work ethic and learned new skills quickly. She worked her way up from dishwasher to short-order cook, sous-chef, and chef in the restaurants she worked at in Cranbrook. Educated by nuns in Cerisano, Italy, she was also highly skilled in sewing, creating patterns, and sewing clothes beautifully. She knitted and crocheted tirelessly, always keeping a project on the go. Frank’s gardening skills meant she had an abundance of vegetables to process, and canning went on for months! Family will fondly remember her tasty treats, famous homemade breads, lasagnas, gnocchi, perogies, and pies, all made from scratch. 

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 255 Nicola St., Kamloops, BC, on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.
