September 28, 1942 — July 25, 2023
Robert Vernon Geddes of Merritt, B.C., Canada was born on September 28, 1942 in San Francisco, California.
Bob, age 80 passed away peacefully at home July 25, 2023. Survived by Sherron, his wife of 27 years.
Loving Father of two sons: Robert Bray Geddes and wife Kimberly of Del Mar, California. Grandson Samuel Vernon Geddes. Patrick Erin Geddes and wife Jessica of San Jose, California. Grandsons Braeden and Liam. Loving Stepfather of Kelsey Jane Hasiuk of Alameda, California. Loving Uncle of Mark DeMarta of Thousand Oaks, California and Cousin John Curran of California.
Bob will be welcomed in Heaven by his parents Vernon W. Geddes and Beatrice Mary Curran, Bob’s sister Barbara DeMarta and his niece Pamela DeMarta.
Bob always loved music. As a teenager he played Sax in a band and years later harmonica, guitar and keyboard. Bob served in the United States Army. After active duty he served in the Army Reserve for 5 years. In his 40s, Bob competed in Triathlons, including The Ironman in Hawaii.
Bob met Sherron when he was transferred to Canada with his job for Simpson Strong Tie. He always liked to say he imported Sherron to the United States. Bob loved his job and Simpson was a big part of his life and the lasting friendships he made there. Bob has always been a “Tool Man,” building a workbench and shelves in garage of their new home in Merritt, plus a beautiful fence in the backyard and planter boxes.
Lasting friendships…. Jim and Joanie Schwartz of Anacortes, Washington. Dan and Debbie Stussi of Spokane, Washington. And after many years, reuniting with childhood best friend Pete Peterson.
Bob and Sherron and their baby boy Kinsey loved to travel in the RV to warmer weather in the winter. Kinsey 9 years old, passed away September 2022. Bob and Kinsey are pictured in the photo… together again.
Just over one year ago Bob and Sherron moved back to Canada, built their forever home in Merritt, surrounded by their Canadian family, wonderful neighbours and new friends. They were having so much fun and loving small town life.
Bob (80), Sherron (73), like true Merrittonians, bought a used ATV side by side – and their snazzy new helmets had just arrived! They were so excited to ride the trails up the mountain.
Bob doesn’t have to worry, Sherron has a great support system with their Canadian family and long distance support from their American family: Sherron’s daughter Kelsey long distance by phone.
Dan and Marlene Budihardjo (Sherron’s sister) Ryan and Morgan McKenzie (Sherron’s niece), Grandnieces Cali and Cleo, Natali Budihardjo (Sherron’s niece)
Thankfully most of the family was with Sherron when Bob passed. We were all so heartbroken….
Bob, you are so loved and respected. You were such a good man. You will be missed so much. We love you Bob.
Till I see you in Heaven… Love Sherron
