August 8, 1941 – January 11, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Robert (Bob) Joseph van Hoof on January 11, 2025, with his family by his side.
Bob is survived by Shirley, his loving wife of 63 years, his daughters Brenda (Michael) Harkies of Coldstream, B.C., Shelly Ann (Trevor) Van Hoof of Port Coquitlam B.C., Tracy (Mike) Moonie of Kamloops B.C. and Diane Van Hoof of Lower Nicola B.C. He is also survived by his grandchildren Danielle (Jon), Christopher, Devon (Meagan), Matthew, and his great grandchildren Elizabeth, Brinley, Adalynn and Remy. Bob is also survived by his brother Ray Van Hoof of Salmon Arm B.C. and his sisters Janet Munz of North Vancouver B.C., Mary (Dave) Brooke of Burnaby B.C. and numerous extended families.
Bob was a special surrogate Grandpa to Jordyn and Patrick who are as close as any other family member.
Bob was born in Minnow Lake, Ontario, the second oldest of four children. Bob moved west and eventually settled in Lower Nicola. He set up his company RJ Van Hoof Trucking Ltd and operated it until he retired in 2001.
Bob was fortunate to live in his home until a short time before his passing.
Bob’s family is very grateful for the care he received in Royal Inland Hospital where he spent the last several weeks before passing.
A funeral will be held at Sacred Heart Church in Merritt at 11:00 on Saturday January 25 followed by interment at Pine Ridge Cemetery.
