September 30, 1944 — November 26, 2025
Rob Lyall of Kamloops died peacefully on November 26, 2025 with his family by his side. He is survived by his wife Cheryl, sons Cam (Donna), Matt (Katie) and loving family members.
Rob and Cheryl moved to Kamloops in 1970 when Rob began his 32 year teaching career. Rob was a dedicated and committed educator. He particularly enjoyed working with students in the Kamloops Alternative School Program. From Rob’s early years he was consistently involved with youth. As a young adult Rob led Scouts, church groups and was a camp leader and director. After moving to Kamloops, he coached various sports teams including football, soccer and rugby. He was a Cub leader, Camp Grafton leader and director and led youth groups at Kamloops United Church.
Being an outdoor enthusiast, Rob shared, canoeing, kayaking, backpacking, skiing adventures with family, friends and students. He cherished the summers with Cam and Matt, sailing and spending time at the Departure Bay family property. Rob loved playing the guitar, leading singsongs at church camps or Christmas carolling with friends. He played the piano, sang in choirs and in later years played the bagpipes.
Rob was very grateful for many longtime, faithful and loyal friends. The last few years, Rob was especially appreciative of visits, phone calls, emails and joining in a music group virtually. We extend our gratitude to the many health care professionals who provided compassionate and conscientious care to Rob for many years. He will be remembered for his kindness, determination, positivity, perseverance and … storytelling.
A Celebration of Rob’s life will be planned for the New Year. For those who wish, a memorial donation may be made to a Kamloops community initiative that supports youth, for example, A Way Home or the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation Cancer Clinic or charity of choice.
