March 13, 1935 – May 1, 2019

Albert George “Bert” Powell, passed away surrounded by his family, at Trinity Hospice, Kamloops, BC, on May 1, 2019. He is survived by his two sons, John (Rose) and Kurt (Lori), and three grandchildren, Kylie, Harmony and Hayden.

Bert was born in Nakusp, BC, on March 13, 1935. He was the fourth child born to David and Anne Powell. His three siblings predeceased him, Alice in 1987; Dodie in 1978 and Dave in 1991. His family grew up on 5th Avenue, near Commercial Drive in East Vancouver. Bert graduated from Vancouver Technical in 1953.

Bert married the love of his life, Loretta Pearl (nee Gauthier) in 1958, and raised John and Kurt on 25th Avenue in East Vancouver. His first wife, Loretta passed away in June 1999. Bert later met and married Loretta Malone, who predeceased him, in 2015.

Bert retired after 40+ years of work, in 1997. He spent the last 22 summers at his favorite place in the world, his property on Sulphurous Lake. The family of Bert Powell would like to thank the nursing staff at RIH 6 South, Trinity Hospice, Kamloops, for the care they gave to him during the last week of his life.

A celebration of the life of Bert Powell will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at the Pitt Meadows Golf Club, from 1:00 – 4:00 pm.
