1928 – 2017
Ken Popp passed away on June 8, 2017 at Royal Inland Hospital, Kamloops, BC, after a lengthy illness, at 88 years of age. Born in Rutland, BC, on December 19, 1928, Ken is survived by his Wife of 57 years, Doreen of Kamloops, BC, Daughter, Kerri, Calgary, AB, Daughter Heather (Bill), Calgary, AB. Grandchildren: Jessica (Nick), Chelsey (Josh), Melissa (Taylor), Warren, Korinna and Emily, all of Calgary, Alberta. Great Grandchildren: Payton, Damian and Aurora, all of Calgary, Alberta. Brothers: Art (Barbara) of Sechelt, BC, Jim (Bev) of Prince George BC. Sisters: Betty, of Westbank, BC, Dot, of Powell River, BC as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many many friends. Ken was predeceased by: Father, Manuel; Mother, Ann; Sisters Phyllis, Wilma, Florence and Ruby; Brothers Richard, Elmer and Fred; Sisters-in-law Kay and Charlotte; Brothers-in-law Lyle, Jim, Ron and George; Nephew, Rory.
Ken’s entire life was spent in the logging and forestry industry including many years as Fire Warden of Barriere and area forest district. He was a passionate and proud 46 year member of the Barriere Lions Club and was a lifetime member of Lions International. Ken’s passions were his wife, daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also loved, with all of his heart, his special Grand-dog Charlie and was also very passionate about the community of Barriere, BC.
A Celebration of Ken’s Life will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Barriere Lions Hall. Memorial Contributions can be made to the Barriere Lions Club.
