November 22, 1950 – February 13, 2025
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved father, Philip James Moody. Phil, a loving Dad and Papa, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Kamloops on February 13 at the age of 74.
Phil was born on November 22, 1950, in Vancouver, British Columbia to parents Stan and Hilda Moody. He had a fun-filled childhood with his brothers Doug and Dave, who shared a love of sports, music and mischief. Phil and his two older brothers had a passion for music and singing while performing in the Jubalaires. They were like the three musketeers, participating in many sports and adventuring around the neighbourhood, watchout local crows, (oh young boys and BB guns)! Phil loved his family dearly and to this day has many photos of his parents and brothers throughout his home.
Phil was a talented athlete with great speed and agility, he enjoyed football, hockey, volleyball, slow-pitch and more. Phil was an extremely hard worker who worked as a piano teacher, bricklayer, and OK Tire main stay. Phil worked at OK Tire for 39 years, he was a hardworking and dedicated employee who rarely took a day off! This is where he met many lifelong friends with whom he created everlasting memories. Phil loved spending time outdoors and camping with friends and family, he especially loved his yearly camping trip called “The Cookout” with his closest friends.
Phil was a loving father to his children Jeff and Sarah, and he loved his children’s spouses Rachelle and Dean. His love for his kids was seen in every moment he spent with them. After long workdays, he was always there—on the sidelines, at practices, or playing hockey, baseball or basketball, in the cul-de-sac for hours on end. He didn’t just watch; he created their world, teaching them the value of hard work, perseverance, and enjoying the little moments. Phil worked tirelessly to provide for them, ensuring their childhood was full of laughter and love. Through every game and practice, he gave them the greatest gift: his time, attention, and unwavering love. Phil was also an amazing Papa to Devon, Hunter, Thomas, and Tyler: who all adored him!
Phil loved living in Kamloops with his two grandsons, and supportive son and incredible daughter in-law. He enjoyed many days out in the sunshine walking around McCarthur Island for hours with his best buddy. He also enjoyed caring for the lawns to perfection, watching sports, and listening to music for hours in the hot sunshine. Phil was surrounded by kind and supportive neighbours in Kamloops who our family are so grateful for.
A Memorial will be held in the Spring to celebrate his life, surrounded by the warmth and light he brought into the lives of so many others.
You may offer a message of condolence at Schoening Funeral Service for the Moody family.
