1925 – 2023

Twelve days shy of his 98^th birthday, Pete passed away peacefully with his son, Bob, by his side after a brief battle with cancer.

Pete was predeceased by his wife, Cicely; his mother, Mary; his father, Max; sisters Annie (Baron), Rosie (Pedersen); and brothers Joe, Paul, Bill, Mike, and John.

He is survived by his sister Jean and her family; his son, Bob, and daughter-in-law, Joyce; granddaughter Christie and her husband, Kyley Barnes, of Kansas; granddaughter Dawn and husband Scott Olsson of Calgary. He was affectionately known as “Grumpy” by his great-grandchildren: Trinity Barnes, Devin Barnes, Kamryn Olsson, Lukas Olsson, Taylor Olsson, and Kate Olsson. Pete was also dearly loved and will be missed by his birthdate twin, Tracy, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Pete took immense pride in his 40+ years of work at Milton’s Movers.

He found joy in tending to his extensive garden and fruit trees, delighting in shipping the harvest to his cherished family in Alberta. Cooking and sharing meals with visitors brought him happiness, especially with his renowned dill pickles and perogies!

A sports enthusiast, Pete adored hockey and frequented the casino, relishing cribbage games and avidly participating in bowling.

He found fulfillment in volunteering with the vision impaired.

Pete’s unwavering faith led him to attend St. George’s Anglican Church for 70 years.

The family expresses gratitude to the Royal Inland Hospital and to the Hamlets at Westsyde for their care during Pete’s final months.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, December 19, at 11:00 am at the Kamloops Funeral Home, 285 Fortune Dr.

Following the service, Pete will be laid to rest with his beloved Cicely in Hillside Cemetery.
