March 30, 1955 — October 31, 2023
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Percy James Campbell. After a brief illness, he peacefully departed on October 31, 2023, surrounded by close friends and family.
Percy was born on March 30, 1955, to Mildred Ann Besner and Percy Joseph Campbell in Edmonton, Alberta. He was one of 13 siblings, and he leaves behind countless nieces, nephews, and cousins. Percy often reminisced about the various activities he enjoyed during his youth. At the age of 16, he set out on his own, trying his hand at various jobs and making many long-lasting friendships along the way.
In time, Percy met and married Laura Lee. On June 8, 1990, their daughter, Charlotte Jeanne Campbell, was born, becoming the apple of her daddy’s eye. Percy shared his wide array of interests with Charlotte and her sisters, Kat Lee, Danielle Neville, and Elicia Burke.
During Charlotte’s senior year of high school, she introduced Percy to Evan Woodward, affectionately known as “the boy.” In 2015, Henrik Joseph Woodward entered the world, followed by Karmin Jaymes Woodward two years later. Percy was eagerly anticipating the arrival of his second grandson in 2024. He retired to spend more quality time with Charlotte, his grandchildren, and to relish the summers at Monte Lake.
Percy’s diverse interests included music, photography, kayaking, gardening, martial arts, scuba diving, riding sports bikes, carpentry, and much more.
Percy was quiet an example of the Baha’i faith. He exemplified virtues of kindness, gentleness, caring, generosity, graciousness, love, and strength.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to George Filgate, Lisa, Celine, and Tim Posynick, as well as all the friends and family who visited Percy during his time in the hospital.
We also want to express our appreciation to the dedicated doctors, nurses, and staff at Royal Inland Hospital. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Kamloops Funeral Home.
A celebration of Percy’s life will be held at a later date, in the spring or summer of 2024.
You may offer a message of condolence at Kamloops Funeral Home for the Campbell family.
