Taken away after fighting a battle that only a few have been able to, Pat passed away after it seemed he’d beat the odds, from Glioblastoma. Originally from Victoria BC, Pat passed away in Kamloops, surrounded by love and on his own terms.
Pat experienced all that he wanted to in life and in the years before illness, frequent travel to the ocean where the waves were big, the palms swayed and the sun shone, made him happiest. He retired from a successful career in real estate in 2016. His larger than life personality attracted many and he made friends with ease. He loved golf and competitive men’s slo-pitch which he played for many years. He trusted easily and always gave his heart freely. As he moved through his life, he said goodbye to some but held on tight to others who remained in his life until end of days.
Pre-deceased by his father, Pat Sr. and survived by his wife and best friend of 13 years, Leanne, and cherished daughter Caitlin (Hayden, Evan, Kaitlyn, Chloe), and his grandson Beckham, who brought more joy to Pat than they will ever know. Pat also leaves his son Rick and his mother Maureen with whom he had many long chats about current events and family history. He also leaves a brother Michael (Anne, Justine, Matt, Ty) his younger brother Tim and his wife Michelle and their boys, Jordan (Kelsey), Wyatt and Dane; sister Kathy (Carley, Deirdre, Emily).
Over the years, Pat grew close to his in-laws, Larry and Jackee Kristofferson, Laura, Marcel, Josh (Mikayla), Mackenzie and Sydney Poland who filled frequent visits with laughter & family get togethers. He also leaves Tanya, Blake and Jordan Barrett, and Nancy who was like a sister and Teri his dear friend, who he periodically let win at golf.
Pat’s wish is to be cremated and paddled out to sea in Maui where he felt at home. His wish will be fulfilled privately, one day soon….
No flowers please, instead, donate to the BC Cancer Agency.
There are some who bring a light so great to the world that even after they have gone, the light remains.
