Cactus and Wild Roses

the blue ceiling of sky

sprawls the rugged landscape

over our homelands

it can change its colours anytime

some things are predictable, others are not

but transformation is constant

a wave of life and death in all forms

rolling over centuries of customs

built upon the dust of ancestors

enticed by the old language of land

the desire to thrive

the art of living

breaths of fresh air

pure, untainted food

giving meaning to tribes

marking borders of territories

protecting the resources within

the hearts and will of people

inspired by the blue sky gathering clouds

evolving into celebration

the making of ceremonies

healing ceremonies

water ceremonies

because water is life

snow and rain are lifeforces

filling the skies

nurturing the land

like the blood of our mothers

veins of streams and rivers

feeding land and all relatives

remembering all life begins in water

and this is worth fighting for

it is a fight for all people

protecting things that heal

returning bodies to pure states

remembering that sacrifices are necessary

that blood bursts and spills for great cause
