On April 10th, 2017, Mary Ottenbreit, nee Pounder, nee Frocklage passed away peacefully at Royal Inland Hospital. Mary was born on July 2nd, 1918 in Denzil, Saskatchewan to Henry and Clara Frocklage. Mary had 9 siblings, one of which, Rose, still survives today.
Mary is predeceased by her first husband Ernie Pounder, her second husband Joe Ottenbreit and her oldest son Marvin Pounder. She is survived by her children: Verne Pounder, Ernie (Judy) Pounder, Lloyd (Carol) Pounder, Marilyn (Mike) Bruno and Alan (Darlene) Pounder, many nieces and nephews, 29 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren.
Her family moved from Denzil to Nelson, B.C., in the mid 30’s where Mary met and married her husband Ernie Pounder in 1939. They started a family, and then moved to Cranbrook in 1949. The family lived and grew up there until 1957 when they moved again to Port Coquitlam, B.C. Their final move was to Kamloops in 1963.
For over 50 years, Mary was a proud member of the Catholic Women’s League. She loved having family and friends over, and her time travelling in the R.V. She will be missed by all she touched.
Our family would like to thank the staff at Active Care Senior’s Services for welcoming Mary into their home. Thank you also to the nurses at RIH for their care and support.
