Born Dec 19, 1928 Passed Aug 10, 2017
The graveside service will be Tuesday Aug 15th at 2pm at Hillside Cemetery in Kamloops BC. Jean is preceded in death by her husband John and her daughter Lisa. Jean is survived by her two sons Jim Olson and his wife Shelley, Terry Olson and his wife Louise, her 7 grandchildren Angela, Aaron, Cory, Jennifer, Ryan, Sarah and Ashley and her 4 great grandchildren Tyler, Madison, Anna-Lisa and Ryder.
In life some knew her as mom although most knew her as Grandma – just about every person in Raleigh actually knew her as grandma due to her loving nature, friendly smile and warm baking. She was very talented in sewing and baking and enjoyed selling her doll clothes and pies at the Kamloops flea market. She spent endless hours in her vegetable and flower gardens growing roses of every colour and peonies the size of her head. Her real and most loved passion in life was her grandkids and you couldn’t find a better grandma if you tried. She had her hand in raising all of them some more than others and it was all with pure love, friendship and fun. If you ask anyone that knew her she was the fun grandma playing games, crafts and getting into mischief right along side us. We all will have many memories of our times with her and those you can never replace.
As a family we would like to thank Sarah for her love and devotion to our grandma in her later years and to the staff at Pinegrove for keeping her comfortable and giving her a home when she needed it.
She will be missed dearly and I am sure she is enjoying her time with her beloved John and her best friend Lisa as she looks down on us today.
Grandma’s Pearls of Wisdom – author unknown
I’ve traveled paths you’ve yet to walk
Learned Lessons old and new
And now this wisdom of my life
I’m blessed to share with you
Let kindness spread like sunshine
Embrace those who are sad
Respect their dignity, give them joy
And leave them feeling glad
Forgive those who might hurt you
and though you have your pride
Listen closely to their viewpoint
Try to see the other side
Walk softly when you’re angry
Try not to take offense
Invoke your sense of humour
Laughter’s power is immense !
Express what you are feeling
Your beliefs you should uphold
Don’t shy away from what is right
Be courageous and be bold
Keep hope right in your pocket
it will guide you day by day
Take it out when it is needed
When it’s near, you’ll find a way
Remember friends and family
of which you are a precious part
Love deeply and love truly
Give freely from your heart
The world is far from perfect
There’s conflict and there’s strife
But you still can make a difference
By how you live your life
And so I’m very blessed to know
The wonders you will do
Because you are my family
And I believe in you.
