March 30, 1955 – March 24, 2017

Mary Theresa “Terry” Catherine Oatway (Lavigne) passed away peacefully on March 24th with her family by her side. Terry leaves to mourn her loving husband, Mark, and their sons, Sean and Shane. She will be forever missed by her mother Lois Lavigne, mother-in-law Audrey Oatway, sisters Lisa Russell (Mike) and Lori Miles (Barry), sister-in-law Shannon Oatway (Harold Borges), and nieces and nephew, Maddi, Tess, and Brandon. She is predeceased by her father, Rolly Lavigne, and father-in-law, Bill Oatway.

Terry always inspired others with her strength, compassion, beautiful smile, and contagious laugh. Anyone who knew her can recall at least one occasion when she gave something without asking for anything in return; whether it was advice, a helping hand, a laugh to brighten your day, or simply a smile and part of her strength when you needed it. 

Terry was blessed to share 42 years with Mark, the love of her life and best friend. Terry took pride in working alongside Mark to build their family business, Oatway Contracting. Starting from humble beginnings, they worked together to build a company that was known for quality work, strong business relationships, and where employees were family. Anyone who worked with Terry had great respect for her integrity, work ethic, and professionalism.

Most importantly, Terry loved her family. Whether it was taking her boys to what must have felt like every single hockey arena in western Canada, trips to a sandy beach for some sun and a salty beer, or just relaxing at the cabin, nothing made Terry happier than spending time with family. As a wife, daughter, sister, mother, and aunt, Terry’s presence will be deeply missed by all who loved her. 

Those whose lives she touched will always remember her sense of humor, generous spirit and kind heart.
