Norma Rosentreter

Posted Aug 13, 2026 | 10:17 AM

August 1, 1941 – July 19, 2026

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Norma Rosentreter, who passed away on July 19, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on August 1, 1941, Norma spent many years making her home in Kamloops, B.C., where she built lasting friendships and touched countless lives with her kindness, generosity, helping hand and unmistakable spirit.

Norma was a strong, independent woman whose determination carried her through life’s many challenges. She was outspoken, honest, and never afraid to say it like it was. If you asked for her opinion, you got it – whether you were ready or not. Her quick wit and wonderful sense of humor brought laughter to everyone around her. She had an incredible will to survive that remained with her to the very end. She was deeply respected by everyone who knew her and was an inspiring role model through her strength, resilience, and unwavering love for others.

Norma found great joy in gardening, putting together jigsaw puzzles, beadwork, ceramics, coloring, playing bingo and many games in her building with friends. She also loved playing crib and Yahtzee, and anyone who sat down at the table with her knew there was a good chance she would win. Whether it was through skill or determination, she loved the friendly competition. One of the many things her family will always smile about was the amount of duct tape she used. If something needed fixing, Norma believed duct tape could handle just anything, and it usually did.

Above all, Norma loved helping others. She cared deeply for the people in the building where she lived, treating neighbors like family. She loved everyone around her, and that love was returned many times over. She was cherished by all whose lives she touched.

Norma leaves behind her loving children: Darlene, Bill, Larry, Ed (Tina) and daughter-in-law Kim (Ron). She was predeceased by her beloved eldest son, Ron, whose memory she carried with her always. She also leaves behind her treasured grandchildren, Abby, Ethan, and Amanda, who brought her immense pride and happiness. She is also lovingly remembered by Leona, Todd, and Papa. Whom was an extension to her family; Leona was like a daughter to her.

Norma’s legacy is one of love, strength, endurance, laughter and generosity. She taught those around her the importance of perseverance, kindness and facing life with courage and determination, her honesty, sense of humor that she barely knew she had, and caring heart made her one of a kind. Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we are grateful for the memories, laughter and the lessons she leaves behind.

She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

You may offer a message of condolence at Kamloops Funeral Home for the Rosentreter family.
