August 28, 1939 – February 24, 2017
On February 24, 2017 our beloved wife, mother, nanny and sister passed away. She had recently lost her husband of 60 years, John Kirkland Noel only 2 months ago. She was a loving mother to Leslie (Lonnie) and Terry (Karen), special nanny to grandchildren Lindsay (Sean), Stephanie (Andrew), Brett, Jonathan (Tash), Brooklyn, Cassidy and Nicole; also great nanny to Madison and Peyton.
Mom was born in Birsay, Saskatchewan to Clarence and Emma Rye. She had 8 brothers and sisters; surviving are Clarence, Ray, Alice, Leonard and Shelley. She was predeceased by siblings Garry, Ernie and Clifford. She is also survived by her family in Newfoundland, sister-in-law Lucille and brother-in-law Ethelbert. Mom was well loved by her extended family in Kamloops, Calgary, Saskatchewan and Newfoundland which included many nieces, nephews and their families.
After meeting a tall Newfoundlander named John at the Airforce Base in Saskatchewan, they married in September 1956. They lived in Saskatoon for a few years before heading to British Columbia. John found work with the City of Kamloops and Kamloops became home. They raised 2 sons in North Kamloops and Westsyde. Mom worked at Overwaitea and Safety Mart before retiring. Mom and dad then spent many years fishing and camping at Badger Lake. Mom loved being with family and always had a cup of tea ready. She became involved in ceramics and enjoyed knitting sweaters for all. Despite having several surgeries in the last few years she never complained. Our nanny will be greatly missed and forever loved by all of us especially her dog Pedro.
The family would like to thank Dr. Montgomery for his kind and caring support. Donations to the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice House in memory of Deloris and John would be gratefully appreciated, if desired. The staff was exceptionally caring for our family and for both mom and dad during their stay. Condolences may be sent to the family via DrakeCremation.com
