It is with great sadness that we announce the tragic passing of Cole at the age of 22 years, in Kamloops BC. Survived by his parents Rob and Charene Monk, his sister Saige Monk and many family and friends.
Predeceased by Ken and Gladys Monk, Ray Turcotte, Ashleigh Smith, Leslie Miller, Lee-Anne Monk and Krista Schwemler.
Cole was a very cute and cuddly baby. He had the most contagious belly laughs. He was a very attentive and loving big brother. Cole attended a few different elementary schools in Kamloops, Quesnel and Red Deer. He attended South Kamloops Secondary School and graduated from Twin Rivers Education Centre in 2013.
He was a natural leader and carried immense compassion for others. He was very sensitive, intuitive and generous. We can honor his memory by being kind to each other, helping people in need, standing up for our values and speaking up loud when we witness, or experience, something that goes against our rights and freedoms.
Thank you to those who had tried to help him. We all did the best we could. Hopefully our medical and mental health system will make improvements to increase their services for helping people with addiction.
The Celebration of Life will be held at The Kamloops United Church on Saturday August 5, at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Cole’s memory may be made to the Interior Community Services Youth Programs at 765 Tranquille Rd., Kamloops, BC, V2B 3J3.
