Misaki Kitazaki passed away peacefully on December 7, 2025, at Nanaimo Seniors Village, with his sons by his side. He was 90 years old. Born on June 30, 1935, in Chemainus, BC, Misaki spent his early childhood in Ibusuki, Japan before returning to Canada after high school with his brother John Kitazaki. He eventually settled in Kamloops, where he met and married Marie, the love of his life, and together they raised their three sons.

Misaki worked for many years as a logger (faller) and later became one of the first operators of modern delimbing machines in the 1980s. He was known for his strong work ethic, gentle nature, and deep devotion to his family. He loved gardening, fishing, watching the Vancouver Canucks, boxing and UFC, and spending time with his family. One of his greatest joys was building backyard ice rinks each winter—first for his sons and later for his grandson—creating lifelong memories.

Misaki is survived by his sons Mitch, Bob, and Dave, his grandchildren, and his sisters Meiko (91) and Yuko (82) of Japan. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Marie, his brother John Kitazaki, his sister Tomoko (2024), and his sister Mayko. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Nanaimo Seniors Village, especially Kim and Frazer, for their compassionate care. A Celebration of Life will be held in spring 2026, with details to follow.
