Michael George Godard

Posted May 26, 2025 | 10:54 AM

February 10, 1961 – May 15, 2025

It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Michael George Godard. Michael, a beloved son, brother, uncle and friend, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 64.

Born on February 10, 1961, in Kamloops, B.C., Michael was the fifth of six children in the Godard family. He was predeceased by his father, Arthur Godard, and his brother-in-law, Robert Arnott.

Mike spent his entire childhood at the family home in Valleyview, where he and his siblings were raised in a home filled with faith, laughter and an assortment of animals brought home by their father, a dedicated veterinarian. Their family home was a cherished and lively place, often shared with pigs, crows, chickens and countless other animals. Mike and his siblings carried fond memories of this unique upbringing throughout their lives.

A graduate of Kam High (Class of 1979), Michael went on to earn his degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of British Columbia. His career took him across North America before he eventually settled into a well-deserved retirement in Chilliwack, B.C. In retirement, Michael took on a new adventure of farming on his acreage in Walhachin, B.C. where he took great pride sitting atop his tractor, overseeing his land. He enjoyed the outdoors and was happiest fishing, hunting and camping, often in the company of his lifelong buddies.

Michael leaves behind his loving mother, Vivian Godard, and his siblings: Raymond Godard, Delphine (Dennis) Rombough, Anita Arnott, Vincent (Janice) Godard, and Joseph (Lidia) Godard. He was a proud uncle to many nieces and nephews, who will forever remember his humour and kind spirit.

Uncle Mike was a man of immense character with a presence that could brighten any room. Michael will be dearly missed by his family, friends and all who were privileged to know him.

A funeral mass will be held at Holy Family Parish (2797 Sunset Dr., Kamloops, B.C.) on May 31, 2025, at 11:30 a.m., with refreshments to follow. The burial will be on Monday, June 2, at Hillside Cemetery (750 Notre Dame Dr., Kamloops, B.C.) at 1:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Holy Family Parish are appreciated.

You may offer a message of condolence at Schoening Funeral Service for the Godard family.
