It is with profound sadness that the family of Mel Amburg announces his peaceful passing on Monday May 10, 2021 at the age of 86.
Mel raised his family on acreage in the Fort Langley area. Mel was a family man who would do anything for them. He also loved horses and was especially proud of his Polish Arabian stallion Diablo. He was self-employed as a plumber, heating technician and gas fitter under the business name of M.R. Plumbing for many years. Shortly after his first wife, Doreen, passed in 1992 he moved around the interior to settle in the Chase area with his second wife, Lorraine. He continued to take on plumbing jobs well into his 80s.
Mel is survived by his daughters Teresa (Howard), Denise (Aaron), grandchildren Jennifer (Nishant), Patrick, Jeremy and Joshua, great grandchildren Jayla and Isabelle (Tessa) and many family and friends.
To say Mel was an active man is a gross understatement. Mel fought a long, hard battle with COPD for 25 years which affected all the things he loved to do such as dancing, riding, hunting, fishing, singing (if given the chance) and working on the (many!) projects around his home. He was also an excellent cook. He never gave up; determined to live life on his own terms.
Mel worked hard to provide his family with a life filled with exceptional opportunities. We will miss you, your trademark laugh and the go to calls we made to you for advice on pretty much anything. May you be resting in the Peace you so deserve.
If desired, donations can be made to the BC Lung Association.
